We are smack dab in the middle of a kitchen remodel. It’s been a long time coming; my mom has been planning to update the kitchen in her house since I was in MIDDLE SCHOOL. We decided to dive in this week and do some updates, but we are on a tight budget. It’d be great to gut the entire kitchen and put in brand new appliances and cabinets, but that would cost way too much. Here are 5 ways to do kitchen updates on a budget.
Kitchen Updates on a Budget
Paint cabinets
This is the absolute easiest way to make a dramatic change in your kitchen. As I mentioned, it’d be great to replace all the cabinets, but that’s extremely pricey. A little TLC and a coat of paint, and you can have a pretty dramatic makeover!
Update hardware
Replacing the knobs and pull handles on your kitchen cabinets and drawers can bring a modern look to a dated kitchen but buying them individually can add up quickly. One way to save is to buy the knobs in bulk or multi-packs. Another idea is to clean your current hardware and give them a coat of spray paint.
New backsplash
There are a few different options for backsplash. You can put up individual tiles, tile sheets, or peel and stick tiles. Another option is to paint a stenciled design if you are really short on cash.
Paint the walls
In addition to painting your cabinets, a fresh coat of wall paint is another inexpensive kitchen update idea. If it’s been a few years since you’ve painted, you may just need a fresh coat. But you could also go with a new color and give your space a whole new look.
Add accessories
Accessories can be purchased gradually, making this a budget friendly upgrade! Add decorative canisters, cutting boards, or display your cookbooks. Just don’t go overboard – no one likes clutter!
