I love a good, cheap DIY project! This one turned out exactly how I imagined and i only spent TEN DOLLARS on Dollar Tree Valentine decorations! I had the paint and vinyl on hand so all I needed was a little ingenuity.
I started with colorful rolls of deco mesh. I got 3 rolls of blue, yellow, and pink. I loosely strung them on the tree, starting from the top and zig zagging all the way down. I loosely interspersed them so there weren’t any empty spaces.
I then added 3 tiered heart ornaments I made out of felt heart stickers. I cut strips of paper and pressed the stickers on the the card stock, adding the backing back in place so they weren’t sticky. I then put ornament hooks on them! Easy peasy!
The next set were a bit unique. I made a list of all the people I love and have felt grateful for this past year. It was a really rough 2020, so I wanted a way to express my gratitude to family and friends, so I added them to my DIY Valentine’s tree!
After my “gratitude hearts” I added sparkly heart picks. There are a ton of dollar tree valentine decorations and some you won’t even need to customize, like these! When shopping just have a color scheme in mind OR choose your based on something like the decor mesh! I wanted to make Schitts Creek Valentine candy hearts for my DIY Valentine’s tree so I knew exactly what colors I wanted!
After adding all my Dollar Store valentine decorations, I filled in with some matching ornaments from my Rainbow Christmas Tree. This was easy to do since I just took them down! Adding in a variety of colors and sizes really helps fill in your DIY Valentine’s Tree and gives it some dimension!
I hope this project inspires you to stop by the Dollar Tree for valentine’s decorations and make your own DIY Valentine’s Tree!
