Transform plain zip pouches from JOANN quickly and easily with paint pens! This project is sponsored by JOANN.
Fall is best known for it’s amazing weather, pumpkin everything, and the best food holiday – THANKSGIVING. But the OG of Autumn celebrations is of course “back to school”! Even though my days of classes and homework are over, I still get the same sense of excitement each fall when the stores start filling with cute notebooks and pens! Whether you’re just looking for some cute pencil pouches or want a fun activity to do with your kids – this quick and simple project gives you the opportunity to decorate some plain zip pouches in under 30 minutes! My trick? Use paint pens instead of paint and a brush!
- Zip Pouches
- Paint Pens
- Painter’s Tape
Start by prepping your zip pouches. Iron them if needed – just
make sure the surface is as smooth as possible!
Next, use painters tape to mark off the bottom section of your pouch. Press firmly all the way across to ensure you have a tight seal.
Now it’s time for paint! Use paint pens to make this a quick and easy project with no cleanup! Mark away from the line near the tape and work in small sections until entirely covered.
Next, remove the tape.
Last, add your designs on the top section of the pouch.
Enjoy your modern color block pouches!
This project has virtually no cleanup and dries super quickly! We did a modern color block design for this set of pouches, but there are so many ways you could customize these to your heart’s content.
These make perfect pencil pouches and come in a set of 3 in a variety of sizes from JOANN. I didn’t test the wash-ability of the paint, so I’d recommend only using the paint pens of items like this that don’t need to be washed frequently (like clothing!)
Don’t forget to PIN for later!
