DIY Halloween Costumes with Soffe!

Halloween is such a fun holiday! What other holiday do you get to dress up and eat tons of candy!? Does it get much better? Yep, you also get to create your own fun DIY Halloween costumes! When shopping for store bought costumes, it’s hard to find ones that aren’t sexist or culturally insensitive. These DIY Halloween Costumes are suuuuper cute AND comfortable thanks to the Soffe athletic wear that serve as the base for each one!

DIY Cactus Costume

For the DIY cactus costume, start with a green Soffe sweatshirt. You’ll need a few white pipe cleaners (I used about 5 of them) and cut them into 2 inch sections. Next, you’ll bend them in half and attach them to the sweatshirt with hot glue. You can even use special fabric hot glue. After you’ve added your prickly cactus spines, pair with a pair of orange Soffe shorts for your “flower pot”. Add a pink bow on your head to look like a flower and you’re set!

DIY Unicorn Costume

This was the costume I was most excited to make! I love all colorful things and figured a cute rainbow unicorn would be super cute! This DIY unicorn costume starts with a white Soffe hoodie paired with white Soffe shorts. For the mane and tail, you’ll cut a few lengths of colorful tulle. I used pink, orange, yellow, green, teal, and purple.

• For the mane: Tie two of the colors together at the top, so that each one has a little knot. To attach to the hood of the hoodie, I used hem tape! It can easily be removed and won’t damage clothing, but it’s strong enough to hold your tulle mane in place!
• For the tail: I simply tied a few lengths of the tulle together and safety pinned to my white Soffe shorts!
• For the horn: I rolled a piece of heavy white cardstock into a point, trimmed the bottom, and used the hem tape to adhere to the hood of the white hoodie!

DIY Gumball Machine Costume

I love this one because it uses all these cute little pom poms! To make the DIY gumball machine costume, you need: a white Soffe tank, red Soffe capris, pom poms, and felt! Cut out a large circle in felt and glue multi-colored pom poms to it! Next cut one large square out of gray felt, a smaller one out of white (write 25 cents on it), then a small one out of black for the gumball “drop”, and lastly cut the turn knob out of black felt as well. Use hot glue to attach everything! You can attach to your clothing with hot glue, or use safety pins or hem tape if you prefer a less permanent option!

These are just a few DIY costume ideas you can make using Soffe apparel. Because they have so many color options (the classic Soffe shorts come in over 25 colors!) the possibilities are endless.
