It wasn’t until recently I realized how weird the concept of an ice cream truck is. The whole time you’re growing up you are told “never take candy from a stranger!” but for some reason an ice cream truck is ok? Just me?
My favorite frozen treat was always the FUDGSICLE! When given the choice I will always choose the most chocolatey treat and fudgsicles are totally that! But since I haven’t seen an ice cream truck since 1998 (and I didn’t feel like going to the grocery store), I made my own homemade fudgsicles.
This is a simple recipe for making you own homemade fudgsicles! This recipe only uses 5 ingredients and takes about 10 minutes to whip up.
I used molds I found for $1 at the Dollar Tree! They had some weird straw/stick thing on them, so I just inserted popsicle sticks instead. (I mean, that’s what those things are ACTUALLY for, right!?) I learned the hard way that the sticks don’t want to stay inside the mixture and will float up and stick out all wonky. So if you follow this method, you’ll want to stick your mixture in the freezer for a while and then add the sticks; that way they stay in place!
This was my trial run with making my own popsicles but I have so many ideas for future recipes. You could make some really beautiful treats using colorful fruit! Check for plastic molds next time you pop into The Dollar Tree, or even check the Dollar Spot at Target! Otherwise, head over to Amazon and grab a mold so you can make your own homemade fudgsicles!
