Add a ton of color to your holidays with rainbow Christmas tree decorations! This vibrant tree features a both purchased and DIYed ornaments for the perfect mix of rainbow goodness!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Now, I’d normally wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to put the tree up, but my friend Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living is hosting her 5th annual My Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree Edition. It’s the perfect excuse to pull out the tree and get to decoratin’!
Rainbow Christmas Tree
The last two years we had a colorful Christmas tree that used the same pinks, blues, and greens that are found in our colorful living room rug. I’ve never been a fan of the traditional red and greens so any excuse to use my favorite bold colors and I’m all for it!
This year I wanted to go for EVEN MORE COLOR… like ALL the colors – so we did a rainbow Christmas tree! I was able to reuse the same ornaments from last year, pull a few of the colors from our Halloween tree (purple and orange!), and add a few new ornaments in fun new colors.
I found the most amazing set of foam ornaments at JOANN that had some awesome shapes. They also had some HUGE balls that were sure to give me the variety I was looking for. A few coats of spray paint in LOTS of colors and we were ready to decorate!

The foam ornaments were really easy to paint – I stuck a toothpick in the top and used a large, scrap piece of styrofoam to hold them in place. Styrofoam is pretty finicky and the surface of the ornaments did change a bit (it kinda shrivels) but I thought it actually gave it a cool texture!
I needed to add some more ornaments to my collection and needed a few in multiple colors, so I dug out quite a few from my holiday stash. I had several tubes from Dollar Tree so this wasn’t too expensive either!
