Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I was challenged by Cricut to use my new Explore Air 2 to create a fun project and I came up with this DIY Love Notes Box. You could use it in a variety of ways. It reminds me of the boxes we used to decorate in elementary school that would be filled with Valentine’s cards from your classmates. A “grown up” version of this could be to fill it with love notes for your spouse or significant other to present them with on Valentine’s Day. Another idea is, a week or two before Valentine’s start filling it with a sweet note each day – each person in the couple could use different colored paper and on Valentine’s Day you could spend time going through the notes with each other.

DIY Love Notes Box
To make this DIY Love Notes Box, open this project file in the Cricut Design Space. The project will cut on 4 mats and you’ll need 3 pieces of white cardstock (for the box) and 1 piece of red cardstock (for the lid). The design is color coded in the project file to help you visualize what you are cutting as you feed through the machine. I like to use my extra mat when I’m cutting multi-page projects so that I can have the next mat loaded and ready to go, and pull the already cut piece off from the first mat while I run the second mat through. This saves a lot of time! I used a combination of tape and glue to put the box together and also had to use clothespins a few times to hold it together while the glue dried! I’m having so much fun learning what the Cricut Explore Air 2 can do! The scoring stylus helps you make clean folds and makes the project look neat. The Cricut Design Space is a great place to start, as there are tons of shapes and images to inspire you to create your own project and there are tons of Make It Now projects you can simple open and send to your machine (similar to this project!).
